New engine oil looking odd
Sorry for this presumably odd post but I'd fancy a second opinion...

I had my Defender serviced yesterday and they changed the engine oil and filter.

Today, less than 10 miles later, I checked the oil level and I am a bit surprised with the color for a presumably fresh oil.

Is new oil with a new oil filter supposed to look like this:

Quite normal, there's always a little bit of the old dirty oil left trapped in the engine after draining it, it mixes with the new stuff and straight away you've got dirty new oil.

But in any case, as Naks says, new oil is very quickly "blackened" in a diesel.
