I rang up and they said the 20% would be refunded within 14 days if I completed the purchase and sent them the item numbers. Decided to trust them and go ahead with it.

tried... Ebay stance is that on your first purchase of today they will honour the discount in the form of a credit to your Paypal account within 14 days.. risky eh?
