Rob, mine was an honest, 'off the hip' opinion which had been requested by the OP. Whether hoodwinked or not what he was collecting was exactly what he had signed up for.
I meant no offence. The bomb had dropped and the 'fallout' was between he and the dealer not our opinions on a situation where we only had one side of the story. A Defender is a Defender, what it may be dressed up as can always be changed. Who pays for it or the reasoning behind it and who is liable is a completely different issue. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

Sorry to come to this thread late as a new member but just to say the OP's story from the dealer matches exactly to what I was told by our local main dealer. I.e. Black pack no longer available due to lack of sawtooth alloy stock.
An alternative view on the above is that LR just don't feel they have to bother with such options (perhaps there is a margin loss?). They are after all flying out of the proverbial door! I am always stunned (and I have driven LR vehicles for a good while) how the sales team at our main dealer just really can't be bothered to try that hard!! Barney |

Hi Barney,
It seems that the Land-Rover company attitude to Defenders has changed over the years, many people find them to be rather disinterested in anything Defender. It's a shame, because (as has already been debated on here) without the Defender there would be no Land-Rover company, as it's undeniably their most iconic vehicle. 67 years of production, and the Defender is still fundamentally an obvious descendant of the Series 1; there are other manufacturers out there who'd give anything for that kind of heritage. |

FWIW - when I ordered my 2013 SW, they included dual finish alloys for free.
when I ordered our 2014 LE, they said the black pack was not available. They painted our dual finish wheels black (what a waste) and they looked horrid but at that time there was indeed a shortage in Australia at least. So we just went with the black dual finish alloys and bought sawtooths off them when they became available. But the dealership was nice (seeing as we've bought a few landies from them throughout the years) and they sold us a set of 4 for 700$ aud. I'm not looking to move the dual finish wheels on as they get scratched when I go mudding too much lol. Will be putting ZU's on. keeping the sawtooths on the LE cause that'll sort of be the 'city' car hahahah |
