Station wagon - 3rd row seats - quick release?
Hi
Is there anyway to make the 3rd row seats 'quick release'. I was thinking that perhaps the two floor mounting bolts could be replaced with another form of bolt and pin and so avoid the need for spanners etc? Any suggestions?

Also, is there a good thread on here about how to temporarily remove the 3rd row of seats....can see the two floor bolts need to be removed but not sure what needs to be done with the folding mechanism?

I remember posting on a thread about features people would like to see in the Defender replacement - and this was on my list. Lots of modern people carriers etc have quick release flexible seating. As the Defender is supposed to be the ultimate multi use vehicle, LR should have sorted it years ago (I know, add it to the list... Laughing )

If supplier could sort a well engineered solution, I would have thought there would be a reasonable market for it? Although approvals, insurance etc might come into it.

Quick release pins for aerospace/aviation use are made by Avdel. These are rated in shear for 5,000 ibs. Used to use them in rope walking clamps in another life.

Before doing any alterations to a safety dependent system I would strongly suggest you take advice from your local MOT station/insurance company/someone who knows construction and use regulations inside out.
