Puma Clutch
A lot of other posts on this subject I know, but I wonder of this is typical - driving along perfectly normally,
smooth A class road, tried to change from 4th to 5th gear at about 45mph. For a short time couldn't get any gears at all, then with difficulty able to select 1st and move off, changing up to 4th and slowly back to base. Very difficult to select gears now that the transmission has cooled as well. Gears can be selected, but the difficulty is accompanied by a whining noise on selection. No warning lights, temperature ok, plenty of fluid in clutch reservoir. No previous symptoms at all. Vehicle is a 2008 110 CSW, 46k miles of which I've contributed 30k. No idea if the clutch has previously been changed. Any suggestions gratefully received. Thanks, Ian One wife - livid

I had a problem with trying to select 3rd/4th and a clonk upon clutch release... This turned out to be a fault with in the gear select mechanism. Quite a relief as I thought is was gearbox/clutch problem. Apparently there's a technical billetin about the gear selector being faulty...

Yes, thanks, there's a sticky which I think may cover that on the TDCI page, but the results of doing the mod, if that is the problem, seem pretty inconclusive. Why is it these things always happen at the start of a weekend when we're away! One wife - livid
