Yes, that sounds like anti-stall.

My issue is as described above. YOLO... You Only Live Once...

Just my experience so far (HGV driver for many a year in a previous life, used to our old 300 Tdi and only had a MY15 for a week but...)

Agree it just feels really odd at first, enough to make lame excuses to the Mrs about "I think there's something wrong with it, its not me honest!"

Read some of the threads on here, especially where people are mentioning feeding in the throttle during gear changes, which I'm very used to doing in trucks and the 300

Tried some different things and adjusted my gear changes to how I'd best describe as "only using 1 pedal at a time"... and the gear changes are now perfect, no kangaroo, no odd throttle sensation, very smooth changes and it feels limo like ... almost Smile.

It's an odd thing to have to change but I think I can appreciate what the software is trying to do and I'll be sticking to 1 pedal at a time now as it feels altogether more sympathetic on the car \ drivetrain

That's exactly what I keep going on about. But everytime I've said anything people just say I am very experienced driver and will not change their style.

Had it when we first got into landrovers and noticed every one of the series 3 we had drove different, my mate would not except this at all. Each 90 or 110 we have had has been different and the only one I didn't like was a my12 90 it kangaroos everywhere.

I've done just over 30k miles in the last year in my 2.2 110. It took a little while to adjust to it, but now I thing it's great. Once your style changes and you adjust driving style it flys. So much so I haven't had it chipped, this is because of the worry of upsetting the the package as a whole. We have a few trailers and a chipper and we go everywhere we need to. But must of the time I am driving at low revs and just plodding along.

The only complaint is the lack of cabin space compared to the vans and the turning circle.

Is this the same rev hang feature or do you have a different issue?

That sounds more like the "anti-stall" feature preventing revs dropping too low

Anti-stall doesn't change the engine speed - it alters the torque delivery. It acts rather like and old-fashioned governor and fuels the engine to keep the tickover speed constant. It is inoperative except at tickover.

The feature that increases the engine speed is the idle jack. This is the feature that causes the engine speed to increase in low box as the clutch is released, which is, I suspect, the feature you're referring to.

Rob has hit the nail on the head.

It is a feature of the vehicle (My mothers fiesta even does it) and i have found you cannot drive it like an old landrover. you have to adapt and then i have found the driving experience much smoother if a little odd to what i have been previously used to.
I have progressed in the last 10 years from Series IIA SWB - 2.5TD Ninety - V8 manual Discovery - V8 Auto Ninety and now a 2.2 defender 110. and it is a completely different animal and changes do depend on how much revs you give it to begin with. A high Rev 1 - 2nd i have found requires a little delay and in it goes but if you keep the revs below 2.5 then it'll snick in quite hurriedly if need be. Else wise yes as Al above says adjusting ones old habits to how LR want it to be done does give a clunk free drive.

TBH it is the same off road i am having to adjust my old habits to drive in harmony with the Anti stall, Idle jack and Traction control systems. Talking with the LRE chaps at last months ALRC national he recommends i take up the 1/2 day ticket just so i can learn how to use the modern defenders technique rather than what i have been doing (IMHO Proper actual driving Wink

Yeah we went on the half day experience and the chap thought me a lot. I went there thinking what is this chap going to teach me, but learnt a lot really in half a day.

Are they going to continue with this experience day after production ceases? YOLO... You Only Live Once...

They do a heritage one, so it will have to go in that fleet.

I would imagine they would, look at what they are doing with the heritage jags - long after production has ended.

It's also a perfect way to keep the halo image alive until the new vehicle is available.
