United Kingdom 2005 Defender 130 Td5 HCPU Kaikoura Stone
[For Sale] RED DEFENDER 90, 46K MILES MEGA SPEC
Hello,

Ill start with the story behind this unique defender, then the spec is down below.

I brought this defender from a transport company in Sheffield 04.11.2012. they had used it as a backup vehicle when it was bad weather along with 3 other defenders, before then it was owned from new by a local mining company and its job was to tow a 750kg water bowser around for road cleaning. I brought it as a standard hard top 90 with the intention of keeping it totally standard, but after having numerous defenders before I couldn't help start upgrading! Ever since, it has been used as my work vehicle which involves a 12 mile journey to work and back 5 days a week, it has been used occasionally for towing a log trailer around, and has only ever been light offroading and greenlaning. (we have a bobtail for the offroading) i brought this as it was the last of the td5's and there the best and most reliable. I started upgrading it into 2013 bit by bit, and then I decided that I wanted to tune it so that happened around summer 2013. I then added the air suspension in December 2013 over christmas, and had it painted in Jan 2014. Over the last 12 months I've done the front up and the bonnet and then the roof rack and lighting and the speakers inside Christmas last year. I have made sure that I have changed the oil every 5/6k miles, and always used havoline quality racing grade oil. Both diffs and the gearboxes are running lucus oil stabilizer in and I've always double flushed the oil system and then use a Wynn oil additive when I've put in new oil. This car has been cared for and loved since I brought it!

It looks stunning, and I never go anywhere on a journey or park up without someone saying something about it!!! Also, more importantly, it is incredible to drive!! It is firm and can be raised and lowered with the air suspension with two toggle switches inside. It is really stiff from side to side because of the oversize anti roll bars, but still soaks up the bumps nicely as it is air suspension. As far as power goes, well need I say any more, it has around 200bhp on tap through the new clutch, dmf and transmission parts, and limited slip Ashcroft diffs back and front, it handles incredibly especially on roundabouts and country lanes.

So why am I selling, the honest truth is that I have lost my licence for a short while , and I have other financial commitments to make, so it is a lot of vehicle sitting there not being used, I am loathed to sell it, and if you see it you will see why, but I cant justify keeping it.

It is currently declared SORN and it has been sitting in our warehouse on a battery conditioner/charger and not been left outside. I will put a new MOT on it as soon as anyone wants to buy it, so you will get 12months MOT.

copy it into word. then highlight and press shift and F3, pressing this key combination shuffles between all caps, lower case and capital letters to first letter.

Then paste back

interested in the air suspension mod, who did this for you? Is its a common modification?

Do you get any of the common EAS faults as other P38's get

Japsrooney- Thanks, to be honest, i dont want to let this go for less than 17k, as you can see from the list, it has one serious set of upgrades, and the bills from these alone were over 15's worth with fitting eta. I am going to get some pics of the interior late today and put them on the forum. Chris from CSK did the ECU for me, it is a great tune. (my original tune was from Bigsteve, that was also good, but i had a new ECU from Chris) It has an allard intercooler, and ASH silicon hoses.
Snowey - I did the whole lot myself, They are P38air bags, which are run inline (fronts together, backs together) and it is controlled by toggle switches and come off a vlair compressor and reservoir in the back. Although this means that it is not an automatic system, it does mean that it is simple, quick to operate and reliable.

Thanks for the pics Will looks great what modifications were necessary to get the P38 bags in? Not being an auto system in my mind is a god send I had no end of probs with my P38 still have nightmares about EAS faults.

How does it ride compared to standard?

Its a great Car very unique.

Hi Snowey, thanks, yeah, the only mods that I had to make was to make a packer for the top of the bag to fit in the spring housing, and then I had to weld a plate up on the bottom for it to sit on, also where the tube goes into the bag. Also on the back of the chassis, the spring mount has a lip around the edge, I had to chop this off and make a little bridge so that the bag fitted in.
It does ride nice, its firm but absorbs bumps well, the best bit it is adjustable so you can lower it raise it for trailers etc, and I like stanced car look when you park up, so I could drop and raise it when I wanted. Also if you have trouble with height, you have the ability to lower and get under barriers/car-parks

Yep, it is very unique, and the drive is unique too, it handles like golf with all the suspension mods too, Chris from CSK has driven it and Im sure he can testify to the fact it is a nice ride!!
