decat and centre box removal does it affect the turbo
As per title does fitting a decat and centre box removal pipe make any difference to the turbo will it lag or not

If anything it will spoil faster with the decrease in back pressure.

There is not much of a difference from having the CAT removed to having one fitted, source a renowned tuner.

So much so I got a new CAT from Dan at Duckworth parts and it is going onto my Puma next week. The main reason is the acrid stink from the exhaust fumes that the CAT filters out. JMTW Thumbs Up

i prefer not having one, it does make the turbo spool quicker and sounds meatier.

I noticed two things once the cat and centre pipe were removed. First the engine had more power and spooled up much faster, secondly a huge reduction in heat in the cabin. On long trips +1000 mile no power drop due too heat. It seems too me that the exhaust heat can now flow away from the vehicle/engine which is all good! Very Happy Thumbs Up

I removed the cat on mine, noticed turbo spooling up much quicker.

Will also remove the centre silencer box, noticed lot of heat coming through on a recent trip in high ambient temps (34C) --

Heat killed my manifold and turbo Sad both were cracked! ££££ Evil or Very Mad Since removing cat and centre silencer the engine has been nice and smooth, it sounds rather nice, and my cab has been cooler too. Engine now remapped and EGR disabled. From a cold start the diesel smell is a bit stronger and the soot deposits around the exhaust exit are blacker these days but at least that Censored isn't going back into my engine anymore.

I have tons of engine live data taken from my Puma with the decat fitted with an Alive stage 2 remap. I am planning to take more live data with the cat refitted. Once the mot is done in September I will base the two sets of live data on whether to keep the cat or refit the decat. Thumbs Up

Hey guys thanks for all the responses definitely thinking ill do the decat now before i take it to bas for a remap do they still go through the emissions test for the mot without the cat and egr disabled?

No emissions check for diesel as such , only smoke test for mot at the moment

only visible check for cat for mot , if you get a switched on tester without a cat is a fail
