I would think that there are some of the best tuning experts on this forum, who are also sponsors, who would do you the business. If mine were to be tweaked again I would be looking at these even though I went to J E Engineering 6 years ago who gave me an excellent service with their Stage 1 tune.

Theres loads of options for engine tuning, so its important to consider what it is you really want from the engine, and subject to the engine's condition and vehicle usage, how hard we should push it.

Ideally, you should give ALIVE a call on 01472 812900 to discuss your needs in more detail, where we can come up with a package of products that will deliver what you're looking for.

A nice stage 1 remap, even at 140hp, will radically transform the overall drivability of the car for only £300.

At the other end of the spectrum there is our PP4 conversion, which looks a bit like this...

I think a nice Stage 1 re-map at that price might be something I drop subtle hints on for Father's Day!
The 140 bhp and 'transformation' might encourage SWMBO to drive the Landy.
Oh, I haven't thought that through very well have I.......

I'll second the Alive route.

I got the air filter, de cat, de erg and the remap on mine. Total transformation and still maintains all normal drivability. Just in my case the remap gave me more available torque for towing the caravan.

This was on a D2 TD5 auto but I can't imagine the Defender is miles different.

Gary and Alive have a great reputation to the D2 site. Ian

A very good option,

There's also Pete Bell (BAS) and Ian Baughan (IRBDevelopments) to consider

I'm going IRB, particularly with the Varuable Vane Turbo set-up, driven some amazing Td5s with that set-up!
