It's interesting how JLR treats it's customers, whilst at the same time bangs on about supplier relationships "founded on principles of integrity, honesty and trust!

That's it then, it's down to the owner to initiate a fix regarding a potentially highly inconvenient, not to mention dangerous issue? Steve.

You're well within warranty so listen for any sign of knocking and get your local main dealer to confirm your diagnosis and have it fixed under warranty.
if mine was out of warranty and I had this issue then I might be looking at the list of names here and firing them off a personal email. Email addresses seem to be initial of first name & surname @jaguarlandrover.com. Go to this website: http://newsroom.jaguarlandrover.com/en-in/...nts=False# Top of my list would be: Nick Rogers - Director Group Engineering, Jaguar Land Rover http://newsroom.jaguarlandrover.com/en-in/...og_270315/ nrogers@jaguarlandrover.com Grant McPherson - Director of Quality and Automotive Safety, Jaguar Land Rover http://newsroom.jaguarlandrover.com/en-in/...hy_021013/ gmcpherson@jaguarlandrover.com I used the email logic to contact the someone else senior within JLR a couple of days ago and got a reply from them within the day |

Well, yes we can consult our respective dealer while still covered by warranty ...but who has owned a Defender that has not clonked and clunked in one way or another either brand new or some way into ownership only to be told by their dealer that they all do that?
This is a known fault that has been shown to be due to lack of lubrication on assembly. Steve. Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. Clunk, clonk, yes sir, they all do that...
Yes, mine does too, with not even 1,000 miles on the clock. But it could be coming from anywhere on the drivetrain... it might indeed be from this assembly if mine was not greased. I just don't get and am speechless why JLR just cannot treat this matter with the seriousness it justifies. Never mind good old customer service from a huge multi-national car company. As someone has already mentioned, if a sudden loss of drive were to occur across a rail track or for that matter pulling out onto a fast moving road, the consequences could be a very serious or fatal accident. This is a known fault. It is an easy fix! I am astounded why there is still ducking and weaving going on! YOLO... You Only Live Once... |

This is a known and dangerous fault, that has the possibility to cause serious injury if it occurs at the wrong time. Maybe Land Rover should take a leaf out of Toyota's and Nissan's books. They've just recalled over 6 million vehicles worldwide, due to a faulty airbag. Most of the cars affected were built between 2003-2007. Obviously these vehicles are out of warranty, but Toyota is fixing with no cost to the customer. Not sure about Nissan.
http://www.drive.com.au/motor-news/toyota-...h11wm.html As stated on this forum, Aulro, and the South African forum, it's a known manufacturing defect. Why is Land Rover hand balling this back to the customer? Hopefully Land Rover won't wait till there's a couple of fatalities, due to this fault, before they react. I think we should all be emailing our concerns to Grant McPherson - Director of Quality and Automotive Safety, Jaguar Land Rover http://newsroom.jaguarlandrover.com/en-in/...hy_021013/ gmcpherson@jaguarlandrover.com Thanks Supacat my email is on it's way. |

Interesting reading... But in today's society I would have thought that JLR would re-act very quickly to this possible fatality causing fault... I mean, any decent lawyer who's engaged in civil action (If it did cause a serious accident) would have a field day with this... (known fault with no re-call or voluntary dealer check, New vehicles not assembled to manufactures specifications etc etc )
Imagine if someone/or worse still multiple people where killed with a vehicle still in warranty... What would the result be?... I'd imagine a very very large (possibly) multi million if not more pay-out, Never mind the then normal press/tv slanging match... with something along the lines of "JLR knew of the issue but chose to do nothing"... Just my 2p's worth Tim It doesn't matter how bad it is, It can always get worse... 2013 Bowler 110 (Sold) 2016 Bowler 90 Rally Spec (Sold) |

Just a quick update, basically still waiting for a reply, that's not the standard computer generated "thank you for contacting us".
Apologies for not updating sooner, I just totally forgot. Just resent original email. |

Well, you can scream and you can moan, but you can't get blood from a stone. (the Hooters)
P.S. Mine's at 25k. No drive train issues so far. Trying to release the clutch xtra sensitively. That's how my boy friend instructed me many years ago on his Series with Turbodiesel mod. |
