ZU Rims + wheel wobble
Just fitted a set of ZU Rims to my 110 with BF goodrich A/T tyres. Got them assembled in UK by Scorpion racing and shipped here and fitted them myself.
Very happy with the offset etc.

The wheels were balanced using the new Dynabeads.

But I Am now experiencing wheel wobble at 55/65mph. I did notice that the holes in the zu rims are a tad bigger than the landrover wheel studs . Would this cause the wobble if wheels not aligned right ?

Any suggestions ? Do I just go and get the wheels balanced using the stick on weights Sad

I have ZU-RIMS on my 90 with 255-85X16 BFG MUD TERRAINS. Balanced with stick on weights no probs.

I have 285's with stick ons and no problems. Is your steering damper OK are the nuts tight on the damper. Take the wheels to your local tyre dealer get them checked then balanced properly. And don't bother with Scorpion ever again. Whistle Wink

Sounds like you have had a few problems with scorpian in the past Andrew? I was thinking of getting them to do some prep on my new 110, would this be a bad idea/

Scorpion racing are sending me out some more Dyna beads to try and solve my wheel wobble , That was 10days ago, after numerous emails and phone calls since, still have no extra Dyna beads. I have the wheels nearly a month now and they are still sitting at he back of the house . They processed my credit card quick enough but !!! They need to have a good look at their customer service - I for one wont use them again. Mad

All I can go from is my own experience and I will never use Scorpion. Customer service is 0 and what winds me up more than anything else, is when you call a company to discuss parts and a complete Muppet answers the call and tries to give you advise that is completely wrong. Evil or Very Mad Must have got the works experiance lad when I called them.

Customer service sounds like it is in short supply at scorpian, I emailed TBR last week and still not heard anything from them, Frogsisland very good so far so will probably use them, pleased with what they did on my D3 and got quote back the same day. Anyone know of other good 4x4 spacialist for vehicle preparation.

I would second Andrews view on Devon 4x4 and Safari-Equip have found both companies excellent to deal with.
I have also recently found OEC International very good, they are agents for TJM stuff.

I have a problem with Scorpion's business ethics as well.

Would much rather give my money to someone else.

Finally got around to removing the Dyna beads and had the ZU Rims and tyres balanced as suggested using stick on weights. One of the wheels could not be balanced as it was miles off - so have to take it to a truck tyre balancer ! So its now the spare.
But I still experiencing some wheel wobble at 50-60mph. And am fairly sure the wheels were all well balanced so dont think this is whats causing it

I am now wondering is there another problem ? maybe castor angle etc. Running 285 tyres with front spring rate of 200lbs and height of 380mm. gives about 1 " lift + the increase in tyre circumference , Have used this set-up before on a td5 110 with no problems.

Any ideas Confused

I have an OME Steering Damper on the utility. You are running bigger heavy er tyres than standard so you are pushing the standard components to their design limits. Try a heavier damper I think they are about £90 from Devon 4x4

Thanks Andrew , I have an OME steering damper fitted. Only getting wheel wobble between 50-60mph . Runs smooth above and below this.
