4 Bolt Steering Box Input Shaft shape causing play.
Hey all.

In an attempt to tune up the steering responsiveness on my 110 tdi, I've replaced a lot of bits. These include:
New 4 bolt OEM LR steering box.
New style Steering Shaft to match the 4 bolt.
New tie rod ends
New Bushes
New Steering Damper
New shocks and Springs

And I still have about an 3/4 inch of play in both directions at the steering wheel.

I've noticed that the new 4 bolt box input shaft does not have splines all the way to the end of the shaft. Instead the end of the shaft is turned down to a smaller diameter. This causes the lower u-joint to wobble a bit on the shaft even when its fully tightened.

Has anyone else observed this small play between their input shaft and the lower u-joint? I've tried two different u-joints and one is from a good supplier, so it shouldnt be a parts tolerencing problem.

-Thanks for any help
