Have you ever thought there may be something wrong with it? Mike |

Mike have had it back with Land rover twice now as I also had ABS/ETC lights coming on. (Still not sorted ) They have said there is nothing wrong with it when compared to a 2008 defender. I have my doubts though as I dont drive her that hard , have 13500 miles up now and still no major improvement.

I just went to look online at the figure an its between 25 - 28 so realistically take off 2 - 3 then anything less something must be up.
Problem solving it though is probably hard Mike |

See how difficult it is for someone trying to decide to go TD5/TDCI..?
For every forum member who has a good experience of one, there's another to counterbalance it out! I know LRs are fickle things, but all the same I'd expect a bit more consistency on the mpgs on the new engines... I wonder if transit owners report the same discrepancies... |

I,m getting really good MPG figures from mine !
Regularly seeing 35 + MPG, it would be just my luck to have something go wrong with it and get another that returned 22 - 24 ish ? As already stated the DEFENDER is shaped like a garden shed and has full time 4x4 and a transfer box ! this could easily equate to nearly 10 MPG. That said there is no way i could drive down the road in a Tranny Van with a grin on my face like a cheshire cat. I for one have experienced all DEFENDER aplications: 200 TDI 90 300TDI 90 300TDI 110 TD5 90 TDCi 90 And without fail its the TDCi every single time ! The engine most definately the gear box ! the new dash layout The vents that actually vent the heaters that cool down and heat up ! In the short time i have owned it i have been lucky enough to experience Freezing cold / Snow ! Very Hot Sunshine ! its every bit the vehicle it was its just more manageable ! refined is the word i,m trying to think of without making out as though its a range rover. I think it will be a very good vehicle that knocks this one off top spot for me ! DEFENDER XS CSW 08 TONGA GREEN |

Agreed. In over 30 years of personally owning enough LR's to run well into double figures as proper shape LR's go this one takes the top spot. |

Well thats all encouraging to hear - especially today as I've just put myself out of my misery, and dropped a deposit on an '07 TDCi County SW...
I can't wait to go get it sometime next week - I just hope I've done the right thing! |

Thanks Mike. (It's 2nd hand - hence the lack of wait, just the loan etc to sort). |

Ads 90 Best of luck with the new Defender
Chalky 35 mpg you lucky sod !!! Well have had my independent LR specialist do so more leg work for me and he now believes that there is a problem with mine - the switch in the common rail unit , common on transits I believe. Land rover uk are aware there is a problem but just have to convince the dealer here there is something up ! Anyone else aware of any such problem? Runs odd sometimes from cold and get a flat spot sometimes around 2000 revs. Nidge. |

Nidge !
I,ve got a funny feeling its gonna be short lived ! Honestly the only luck i get is bad luck ! Its good to see that others agree on the new DEFENDER aplication being the best that they have owned and with real life experience with other applications this kind of experience shows for a lot. Personally the best other DEFENDER i have owned was a 200 TDI it was a proper diesel at that time and by that i mean clatter clatter ! but it was well built and had been well put together ! not a Monday morning or Friday afternoon car ! hopefully i have just aquired another one with the new Puma or TDCi whatever its going to be called ? Its good to see that second hand ones are up for grabs already and that people are favouring these over the TD5, As with all previous models time will tell and genuine Land Rover owners will as always be honest in the vehicles shortcommings and enthusiastic and loyal in ownership. I've been following this and other threads here and elsewhere with much interest... Mine is currently being transported from "Old Blighty" for stealing a loaf of bread and due to dock in the colony around the middle of next month. I am preparing a list of likely LR transgressions so that the dealer can earn its $2,000 dealer pre-delivery charge effectively and to my benefit. Owning a '95 300Tdi Disco I can expect a few Friday afternoon issues but a lot of satisfaction along the way inspite of common sense. Mahn '08 Defender 110 ex '95 Disco 300 Tdi www.aulro.com |
