Lowered springs.
Looking for a bit of advice

Ive just had my stage 2 remap and decat and looking to drop my 90 maybe 25/50mm now for yous of you whos done this which springs did yous go for???

I dont do much off roading at all cross sime fields etc but nothing exactly tasking neither do i carry much weight and only 1 passanger.

Im looking for something that will improve handling, Nothing to soft but i dont want a hip replacement next year either.

I managed to get some extreme 4x4 2 1/2" rear 1 1/2" front lowered springs off eBay second hand but had only done a couple hundred miles or so. I also added anti roll bars at the same time as mine didn't have any and it stopped loads of body roll, as mine doesn't do any off road either I think it was well worth doing. Pics in my build thread if your interested. Ray

Ok, I'll have a look at those.

Do you feel it made a noticeable improvement in the handling? Also did you replace the shocks too??

My shocks were replaced the year before so I left them, as for handling there is a lot less roll which is what I was looking for although it's slightly harder over bumps and potholes but definately an improvement for my needs Ray

I lowered my 110 by 2" and had to replace the front prop to a double Cardon type due to a vibration at 100kph

Spoke with extreme today they have various springs in stock.

Question is should I drop the rear more than the front?? Or just 50mm all round Smile

Davie, In your enquiries have you been advised to fit the "double cardon type front propshaft" in line with what bpman is saying, as I've heard this before, whilst some have not required it?

The Alive 90 lowered springs are -25mm at the front and -50mm at the rear. This makes the 90 sit dead level, and is right on the sweetspot for suspension geometry. Anything lower (at the front especially) has negative consequences, much like those described above.

Our spring kits are made in Germany by Eibach, so are absolutely premium quality! Our all new comfort springs will be available shortly, as tested by Liam (LikeOMG).

We also supply an uprated (lightweight tubular) rear anti-roll bar, also made in Deutschland by Eibach, that complements the existing OE front anti-roll bar which as a package, handles body roll perfectly.

At Alive, we know a thing or two about Defender handling! Mr. Green

Didn't know if i could name them specifically Whistle

THESE are the springs to have with the new rear roll bar.

I might even consider changing my current springs for them sometime in the future.

Jeez, what a ripper shot of a REALLY good looking Defender.
What mods does it have?
So, with respect to "vibration" on lowering, is that only a 110 problem? Have you come across it at all? There seem to have been plenty on here who have dropped the 90 by 2" with no issues at all?
Pickles.
