In my cheap run around (which has a few minor leaks) I put in different grades & brand whatever is close to hand. Does not seem to make any difference.
Wouldn't do it in a more vaulable car (or my Defender), as I am too OCD!! Mixing different manufacturers, but same grade (+ not mixing mineral, semi, fully synthetics) should be OK as the difference should be down to the additive. If there was a major problem with doing it, I guess it would have cropped up somewhere in the media before. Mark |

Years ago I had several series Landrovers and an old Marina van that used to use oil so that it required topping up every week or so. At first I used the cheapest 20/50w i could buy to top up with but ended up putting EP90 gear oil into them as I found that it took ages to need topping up again! No adverse effects on the engines as I ran them for years like that! Wouldn`t recommend you did that with yours however!
