Oil Pump - Field Service Warning - 10min drain time
http://www.aaen.com.au/wp-content/uploads/...tiqbiz.pdf

"Field reports indicate that there may be an issue with the variable flow oil pump fitted to Mazda’s new generation BT50 5 cylinder common rail diesel engine. Reports to Autodata are that if the engine oil and filter are changed in service and the oil is left to drain longer than 10 minutes, the oil pump may fail to prime and leave the engine in a critical no lubrication situation. Attempts to prime the pump by increasing the rpm fails to
solve the problem, and will lead to component failure from lack of lubrication."

OK it's for a different Ford engine but wondered if anyone had heard similar stories for the 2.2 Puma subject to the current recall?

guessing different engine and different pump than the ford transit 2.2

never heard of any 2.2 or 2.4 do it

that that uncommon there have been a few engines in the past do the same thing , one was the rover v8 engine if left sitting for ages ( like years ) they could do it even with oil in the sump of if left draining or empty , ive only ever seen a couple do it
