Horn won't stop sounding!!
Just driving back from the shops in my 1990 Defender when the horn started sounding. I've pulled the relay and found a constant 12V on the coil. According to the Haynes manual circuit diagram sounding the horn from the stork doesn't go through the relay so I'm assuming it's something to do with the alarm but there's obviously no diagram. Does anyone have any ideas of what could causing this and are there any alarm circuit diagrams knocking about online?

You sure its not a knackered Indicator/horn stalk?

Quite common for them to fuse out inside. Try unplugging it first to eliminate . Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant.

Cheers for the reply. I can still sound the horn from the column switch with the relay removed but the horn sounds as soon as I replace it. There's a continuous 12V across the coil and I don't know where's it coming from.

Check battery is holding charge.
Is horn sound from alarm sounder under l/h wing. It goes off when its internal battery is Censored .
Replace with new, do not buy second hand .

Horns usually have a permanent live connection and are switch by earthing the other connection through the horn switch. If that connection has frayed and is earthing elsewhere the horn will sound.

Cheers, Romadog. Yeah, the car has an alarm fitted. Are you saying the alarm unit in the LH wing has an internal battery? Any idea what type it is? Wasn't aware of this second sounder.........eeee, every day's a school day!!!!

Yes it has so if someone disconnects the main battery the alarm can still sound.

I know I'm going to sound as thick as a whale sandwich here but can you describe where this unit is exactly, please. Just been out for a quick look and can't find it.
