I wonder if it's the import duties that have put paid to the Autobiography not making it there?
"Land Rover South Africa has confirmed that limited numbers of its two Celebration Edition Defender models are heading to our shores. Only 215 of these two special editions models — the Defender Heritage Edition and the Defender Adventure Edition — will be available in South Africa. Unfortunately, it seems the luxurious Autobiography Edition will not make it to South Africa. The Heritage Edition is inspired by early Land Rover models. It mixes nostalgic design cues with modern creature comforts, and is immediately identifiable through its distinctive Grasmere Green paintwork and contrasting white roof. Additional touches include a classic design grille and HUE 166 graphics, recalling the registration plate of the first ever pre-production Land Rover (nicknamed "Huey"). The local market will get 130 Heritage Edition models in the 110 Station Wagon body-style, and 50 in the 90 Station Wagon body-style. The Adventure Edition, meanwhile, comes fitted with additional under-body protection and Goodyear MT/R tyres. Unique decals and a leather-trimmed cabin are also part of the package. Of the Adventure Edition Defenders allocated to South Africa, 15 will be in the 90 Station Wagon body-style, while 20 will be in the 110 Station Wagon body-style. The first units are scheduled to be delivered in September 2015, with pricing "to be confirmed" closer to the time." http://motoring.iafrica.com/newmodels/1000108.html |
