Having just got back from the States I was tempted into buying one having seen a lot on the roads around Tampa and Sarasota, Florida. I particularly liked the 4 door Rubicon, no doors, big tyres and jacked up on Dana axles. All of them had the roofs off too.
Over here they are different with European Safety front Bumpers-Fenders (no gaps between the bumper and the wings so you can't get your hands caught!) and most are not the PentaStar petrol engines. If I lived in Florida............. well that's another story! |

I love that. If that is a serious proposition from JEEP, then I think it might be finally on to a winner. It's sold in dribs and drabs here but recent aquisition to the Fiat group has seen JEEP brand looking to conquer market segment. If your primary competition moves out of that market, then why not move in? The statement about not dumping their heritage is a direct dig at LR. I would feel bad about jumping ship, but lets be honest, JEEP reliability vs LR reliability it's not like I'm getting a Toyota New project and it's green: www.projectoverland.info |

Quite tempted to order one as fun wise I don't think Ive had as much fun in a vehicle since my CJ7 30yrs ago. The only problem though is Ive just found out there is a chance these are going to be made in Italy. Apparently, Renegades have already been sold to the US market without the new owners realising they've been made in Italy.

Going by the limited cross section of people I know, Jeeps have an even worse reliability record than Land Rover... add that to Italy and you've got problems!
