Swapping door rubbers from body to door

I have noticed that the door rubbers on the defender are on the body of the vehicle. On every other vehicle I can think off the rubbers run around the outside of the door and the vehicle body presents a flat surface for the rubber to rest against.

One thing that really annoys me about the Defender is that rubbers on the vehicle body keep getting knocked off as the kids get in and out of the vehicle.

Has anyone tried swapping to rubber from vehicle body to the door frame? I am guessing that it is possible to get adhesive rubbers that simply stick to the door frame. If so, was the dust sealing any better than original?

mmmmmmmmmm........ this sounds like an interesting idea, i think it may be that the only reason its not been done before is "thats the way its always been done" thinking.

I would not swap the rubber to the door frame. You can glue the seal to the body with silicone. You could as well apply the sealant to the frame leaving a straight line of about 1-3 mm. Worked for my rear door. Puma 110" SW
