Not sure I'm a fan of a Puma bonnet on a non puma imho the older style is more functional and a classic

please don't take this the wrong way as I'm not implying for one second that anything on this isn't 100% legitimate and clearly if it wasn't I can't imagine anyone posting pictures on the internet but seeing your wifes truck concerns me (by the way looks like you've done a fantastic job inside and out).
in the same way a neighbour of mine turned up in what I first thought was a brand new 90 tdic..... turns out it's a tdi too. again not suggesting there's anything not legit about it but the idea of an old motor looking so good must help to generate a market for the less scrupulous. hope that makes sense - in a nutshell what I'm trying to say is that there must be a market for older motors when you can make then look so good. as such it will naturally make some want to do the same thing as cheaply as possible to make a fast one. happy motoring and lets hope you don't fall victim as other have where some of the really nice old defenders have 'disappeared'. must be absolutely gutting to have put some much effort into a project for it to be pilfered. keep it safe. |

It's a 300 Tdi and was completely rebuilt and documented from the ground up. It has a TD5 bulkhead with front wings and a TD5 dash and rear tub. The guy we bought it off spent two years rebuilding it and we have all the receipts here for parts etc. I'm not a Puma bonnet fan myself but the wife likes it and for want of a peaceful life it'll stay to keep her happy It's going to be converted in a SW in the next few weeks. I've got the roof and side panels (even though she wants those panoramic windows in it) ready to go, just waiting on a new rear door and then it's time to go. It'll be painted in Atlantic green she tells me, hopefully it will turn out nice.

like I say someone has clearly put a lot of time into the 90.
please ensure you have the necessary measures in place to ensure all that hard work isn't undone in a few hours. my dad had a 300 tdi disco and it has to be said that a 'proper' defender probably does / should have a tdi under the bonnet. hope wifey has year of fun. |

The 300Tdi is a bit sluggish which is why it's going into a Landy mate of mines garage for a health check. I have a beautiful double garage to lockm that and my Discovery 2 in but unfortunately it's currently without a roof after a direct lightning strike totally obliterated it one night. Once it's done it will have a heavy steel roller shutter door and a ground anchor to lock over the rear axle. It's also getting a Rat Trap fitted as soon as it's been painted and the wife wants a SafeTpedal as well. I have a TK103A GPS tracking system to install in it so even if the battery is disconnected it will still track where it's going and send me coordinates. I can also follow it with the GPS software that came with it.
I have to say this have given me major brownie points with the wife now, she can't do enough for me. When the time comes for my 110 i'll have no arguments from her now. Thanks for the advice |

Yeah it was a fair price to be honest. I don't think the lad made huge money on it to be truthful.
