If you do any amount of off-roading/green laning I'd leave them off.

I had them on my TD5 County spec HT and took them off. The ride is much better off road and I don't notice any difference on road. The whole truck seems much smoother without them.

Im with you Simon, I think its all in the mind, I dont think standard arb,s make a blind bit of difference. I have always removed them because I off-road a lot and they do hamper your articulation. Thumbs Up 2003 Td5 90
