I hate the phrase CPC as now drivers claim to have a CPC which they do

The iratating part is there are two CPCS drivers and operators the later being a tad more indepth as it allows you to run a fleet of trucks

I've turned away so many applicants for a TM role because they think they have a CPC so they can have an o licence Big Cry

Blimey, that takes me back a bit. I held an operator's CPC back in the 1980's. Some useful info about the big stuff such as wide loads, police escorts etc. but also quite a bit on the level of "which end are the red lights" as well. Hope it has tightened up and takes account of the changed road conditions since then.

The age to drive an HGV was lowered to 18 some years ago, apparently due to a shortage of drivers. The other side of the coin was the need for CPC etc as these young lads did not have the knowledge or skills needed to do the job.

I did my HGV a few years ago and actually the initial CPC exam is quite daunting, you have to get a very good score to pass, you can't just fumble through it. 2011 110 USW
