Following this thread: http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic3425.html?highlight=mantec I'm quite interested in a set of the panels for my 110 Utility as my mountain bikes are slowly trashing the inside.
Does anyone have any first hand experience of them? Are they worth the price tag for ease of fitting and performance? (they seem to be acoustic carpet on wood cut to shape). Finally, the set doesn't look like it includes panels to cover the portion of the tub between the wheel box and bottom of the panels - is that right? Cheers all G |

LCJ,
Firstly welcome to the site. I think alot of people manufacture their own...the added benefit is that you can Rockwool the voids and make the vehicle more soundproof too. See here: http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic3094.h...ide+panels Or here: http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic2274.html?highlight=panels If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! LCJ,
We welcome inexperience, we all had to start somewhere and I find it gratifying paying back some of the help and advice I have had on here. If you don't have the time, inclination or tools do you not know a half decent chippy? With a tape measure and a few sketches a timber merchant would probably cut you the marine ply into the shape you need! Quick trip to a carpet retailer to choose the colour and pattern you desire (you could even go floral for that 'retro look' if you so wished) What could possibly go wrong? Jeremy Clarkson would probably not be very subtle to tell you to give it a go! Go on then! Don't forget to post the pictures and seek further advice from someone who's done it! Drop 'em a 'pm' they will be only too pleased to assist. Fekete would probably be a good start he's done a decent job of his, he can sort you out with a great garden fence too if you need it! Ditto here otherwise I'll have to get the tools out as K9F is urging me, and that will get messy!

(Jeremy Clarkson voice on) But LCJ you'd have money left over towards something else if you did it yourself! Don't bottle it! (Jeremy Clarkson voice off)!

Make your own, very easy and a lot cheaper, click the project 90 link on my sig if you are interested in details of how I did it.
Did consider these but thought they would soon look tatty when you get mud on the carpet (which is pretty much guaranteed when you throw a bike in the back), one reason I went for "wipe clean" vinyl MAD COW 2007 90 Hard Top - 2009 BMW F800GS - 2002 CCM 604E Dual Sport Project90 |
