My nephew and his partner are in management at JLR and he said to me over the weekend that JLR are really concerned about the pending EU referendum. They are stalling over a few major decisions possibly including the new defender production facility until the outcome is known. Much could be relocated into mainland Europe if we vote to come out.

So if we vote to leave the EU, Land Rover will relocate to previously occupied Europe as nobody there will buy a car made in the UK? On that basis will we stop buying French and German cars as they are made in the EU?
We will be voting on leaving a political union not a trading one - there has to be other reasons for the delay. Probably the vast negativity on all the pre publicity photographs |

Baffling indeed. And how quiet has this thread gone lately? I think everyone's had a gutful of speculating, and just want to SEE THE NEW DEFENDER. Ah it I'm off to buy a 70 Series. |

Talking with a guy at the Anglesey event (I didn't catch his name). He said he was a contract photographer for JLR and that this was his 15th Visit to Red Wharf Bay this year for Land Rover related events.
Anywhoo, he said that he has had to sign a confidentiality agreement with JLR and he could give no details, but he has seen the actual proposed new Defender and assured me that we will definitely not be disappointed when it is revealed. The concept shown in the OP is a red herring that JLR have put out to keep people guessing, but surprisingly it has been well received in many quarters and they may look at producing a version of this too. |
