With no apologies whatsoever for plagiarising @PartyMonkey's post elsewhere...
But with plenty of thanks to Jonathan for his continued work in providing this valuable resource... February 2015 LandyWatch theft statistics are now available on the main forum on the link below. You don't need to be forum member to view this thread. Scroll down to the end for February's data. Jan'15 data at the beginning of the thread. Attached is pdf summary but key data points for Feb'15 :- (Jan’15 figures in brackets for comparison) - 27 (46) reported 'incidents' of which 24 (40) were reported thefts - West Mids & Yorks & Humber being most 'active' (same as Jan’15). These figures include 2 incidents from Jan’15 which were recorded after the Jan cut off date. - Of the thefts, 1 (8 ) reported recoveries at a rate of 4% (20%) - Defenders counting for just over 80% (almost 90%) of the reported thefts. Interesting to note at the beginning of Feb there was a small run (3 incidents) of Discovery 3/4 thefts. One reported as taken WITHOUT the keys but it’s not clear how the other two were stolen. - Defender wheel base ratios 4:1 90 : 110 (3:1) with 130 not reported in Feb (hardly registering in Jan) - 11% (25%) of entries didn't have a vehicle age but the up to 5 and 21-25 (6-10) age groups were most reported. - Security info... Over 40% (60%) have no info provided from Facebook or the Forum – Good to see we’re getting a greater proportion of security info in Feb. Let’s hope this continues. - Where we got info... 19% (15%) relying on factory security only, 11% (5%) reported no security at all, 7% (2%) had factory security+another layer. Balance employed various security which is detailed in the summary. Interesting points to note… -Defenders parked behind locked gates appears to offer no protection at all -A Disklok once again helped prevent a theft (maybe down to the quality of the ‘thief’) -The limitations of the VHF element of the ‘Tracker’ brand of tracker could possibly be highlighted in the case of one theft (Police unable to get signal from the tracker) The Map, linked below, is pretty awesome and has been updated with Feb data too as a different colour overlay to Jan'15. You can toggle on/off the different months on the menu icon in the top left of the map. LandyWatch Thread < Clicky Linky... LandyWatch Stats Map < Clicky Linky Click image to enlarge Rog... Good Info. I like the information used on the toggles on the google map and the information given by the police about parking a second car behind as a good deterrent. A thing I always do if one is available.
Still very worrying when you look at the month by month figures unless it appears you live in Scotland. For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at.. http://www.youtube.com/user/conwy1 |
