Diesels can't run lean, less fuel just equals smaller bang on a diesel 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon 1990 Vogue SE Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 Td5 90 Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic50767.html Tdi 110 Thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic69562.html RRC Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic54492.html Instagram http://www.instagram.com/george_grafton |

Years gone by I would agree with not possible.......
These days I would have thought it was very possible -but hopefully someone in the know can confirm? Last edited by Caterham on 27th Feb 2015 9:57am. Edited 1 time in total |

2008 Td4 90 SW, 2012 2.2 90 SW, 2" raised Trailmaster/Terrafirma Heavy Track Raids, 255 MTīs, Recaro CSīs, anorak, wellingtons |

lots of modern diesels run light coloured exhausts I think its the addition of a cat and pdf that causes it with much less soot getting to the tail pipe , take a look at new MBs and Audis, your MPG is the best indication if you manage between 25 and 32 mpg it will be about right. DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

So having got the funny dealt with, Iīll try helpful... What about temperature? Is the motor running hotter than previously? Temp is difficult to judge with the standard gauge. Do you have access to a scan gauge? 1998 Tdi 90 SW,
2008 Td4 90 SW, 2012 2.2 90 SW, 2" raised Trailmaster/Terrafirma Heavy Track Raids, 255 MTīs, Recaro CSīs, anorak, wellingtons |

All diesels run with an excess of air, they don't run at a predetermined ratio unlike a petrol, which runs at stoichiometric air , fuel ratio.
There is no throttle and the power output is simply defined by fuel in. You won't get a situation like a petrol where its overheating etc, due to lack of fuel..... It'll just run slower with less power. Jonno |
