ppcages full 110 external is about £1300+VAT supply only, but there is an internal hoop behind rear seats that's optional and another £300+VAT or so from memory. The instructions to fit look quite simple (for a LR owner) I am sure they are on their website, but make sure you look at pics of that internal hoop before you order one with it as it seems quite intrusive (only seen pics, not in the flesh) and you would want to consider its impact in an impact from a safety view. If you had a hoop like that in a track day car for example they would make you wear a Snell approved lid! It can be had with an optional diagonal brace as well but it looks like that would rule out mud seat rails for more travel.

I asked about a year ago when I first looked into it and their sales were quite helpful. Not quite sure myself if the extra weight makes it more likely to roll over however, and on a new Defender you just paid $$$$ for drilling the holes for the cage could be cause for some puckering up! Comes on a large pallet (not standard size) so shipping was not cheap, but unless you have your own trailer and are local worked out good value (i.e. diesel from me to them was 2x shipping!).

Still if you do expect you might end up upside down has to be worth it. It does look the business as well I suppose but there are cheaper bling options, for about the same money you could have LED headlights like Ken's Laughing Disco 3 gone but the memory of the bills remain...
XS 110 Utility maybe one day..... (did they fix the quality yet?)

Paul,

Thanks for the information!! Without wishing to (further) hi-jack the topic... Our thoughts were that rather than a roof-rack for a roof-tent we would get a cage and thus:

Transfer weight to the chasiss
Get a bit more roll over protection

I take your points about the internal hoop (though I guess it makes it much stronger). I have a cage fitted to my Series 3 and am very aware how weak the upper-body is on a land rover having seen quite a few that have been crushed/rolled.

Not so much bling as 'anti-squash' Wink

Ah, well clearly for "real" use you can have a much higher roof load transferred to the chassis directly, but again is that more likely to make your roll over Shocked Laughing

Its one thing that puts me off a Defender is with a young family, its just not as safe as other options... (even if its a lot cooler Cool) Disco 3 gone but the memory of the bills remain...
