Sounds like failing syncro hub or detent spring failed. Either way it`s box out and have a look in side. assuming it select`s gears ok in the first place. Excuse the spelling I`am better with spanners and wires.

^^ Agree with a syncro wear issue.
I remember back in my racing days when a syncro failed during a race, I had to hold it in gear when backing off for every corner as when I backed off for some lift off oversteer it would jump out of gear. Just happened to be Croix en Ternois which has a lot of slow speed tight bends and hairpins. Try holding it in gear and turning the wheel at the same time. I learnt a lot about Syncros that day..... All gear selection is normal it happened I think 3 times while going on holiday bristol to Inverness and back plus running around in Scotland high speed 80 mph back off because of slowing traffic and it popped out only done 58000 on a 58 plate.
Thanks for replies. |

Just out of interest, have you ever used Low range and 6th at the same time? I was told that it puts too much stress on 6th gear and can cause early wear. Craig Rogers

I had 5th and 6th syncros fail on mine, had a new box and all sorted. Odd that it appears to be higher gears that are suffering.
