Looking at the options list for a 110 Station Wagon (5 seats). Trying to figure out what options I want. If I should go for a CSW and add bits or an XS and add bits. What bits in particular to add.

I didn't go for the XS (but mine's a 2011) because:
1. I wanted full leather seats, not part leather 2. I don't need aircon (I live in Scotland and hardly use it) 3. Mine's full option. The one thing I would hate to be without is: heated windscreen.
The rest is just nice to have. |

I think you can call my SVX fully loaded as standard. At the time there were two real options one could click, and those were the tow pack, and the glass sunroof. I ticked both, and in hindsight I am happy I did.
The tow pack not because I need it so much, if at all, but the rear of a Defender just needs that, a tow pack belongs there naturally. The sunroof, well I actually would not want to be without it. If I compare sitting in a Defender with sunroof with sitting in one without sunroof, it is amazing how much the sunroof brightens up the interior. Until today, it is not leaking either. I know this is very personal choice, but try to sit in both versions, and then decide.

my fav features are the AC and heated front screen.
AC keeps the car from steaming up as well as obviously keeping you cool. the heated front screen is also a no-brainer. I certainly wouldn't go without at least one of the above. Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

There's quite a few things that I'd go with an XS over a County. Not sure what is actually the standard in the County currently though, so they may already be included;
A/C - I wouldn't buy a car without it for cooling and demisting Heated Windscreen - Thank you Ford! Heated Seats - Yes please ABS/TC - If you go off road, the TC was a great addition to the Defender - I know you can fit lockers or LSD, but on a new vehicle? Will LR honour a warranty? "Green" Tinted Windows - Does the County come with the standard clear glass? To be honest, the biggies are the A/C and ABS/TC. These add up to most of the extra cost of the XS over the County. No - not needed a heated screen yet - a kettle of tepid water has worked for the handful of times I've been frosted-up

Until it cracks the glass and/or splits the seal
  ...although not likely to be honest.
The great thing about the heated screen is that when we get some real cold mornings, the windscreen can re-ice when you drive. The heater element stops this happening and also stops any water from the washer freezing as it hits the screen. also means you don't have to wait for the engine to warm up to be able to demist the screen and see forwards.
I find seeing forwards advantageous to driving under many conditions! Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

As I say, we don't have heated screens in any of our cars (Defender, MrsK's Evoque, or my XC70). So far this hasn't been a problem. MrsK's last car (Mini Cooper) had it but it was only used a handful of times

Everything is pretty much along the lines I was thinking.
Winter pack with heated screen and seats. AC Traction control & ABS Wouldn't be too pushed about leather seats, happy with fabric seats. Not getting a sunroof, condensation and other leaks. For the sound levels I'd want carpets but I'd use rubber mats too. I want the dixon bate tow hitch. I think the 13 pin fitting is the future so one of them too. Cubby is a must. Should I bother with their stereo or get after market? The snorkel is just a more expensive regular snorkel? The M/T tyres you can upgrade to, are they any good? |

I've gone with the XS, with tow bar, upgraded sound system and dual finish alloys, I considered a sunroof, but decided against it the amount of condensation that gathers on the wife's 90... But I hear the XS is now coming with a black roof lining so may regret not having the extra light now.
Heated screen and seats were a must for us, not so bothered about full leather... |

Yeah, the BMW attempt was a bit poor compared to Fords. I'm really surprised more makers are not copying the Ford design now that the patent has run out. I'm sitting waiting for the Audi TV advert to come on suggesting that it's the best thing they've ever invented.......
