Don't see why the military should be wary of an ECU controlled engine. Look how complicated a nuclear submarine is! But I suppose a submarine does not leak. Whistle 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

They do actually leak as they're riddled with 'holes', they also change size with pressure and are prone to rust!

Just one correction... they're XZL's, not XCL's.. the WIMK's run on XZL's (although most are 235/85/16 not 7.50's as in these pictures... you can tell the difference because the middle tread piece is in 2 sections on the 235's)

however, i've seen quite a few wolf's trundling around Salisbury Plain wearing XZL's... i've heard that "they" (assuming it's the powers that be) prefer the road handling and better grip of the XZL's over the G90's)

nice looking vehicles though in those pictures. very nice.

I noticed they still have flaps. Could be trail models. I worked for a chap who was an engineer at land rover and he had a td5 with a tdci put init which he was putting miles on. It didnt have the new dash in this full version and it had defender sticker on front.

I'd love to see some of those pre-production trials vehicles.

I live in Swindon, and proior to the freelander being released, you'd see lots of meastro vans driving about, all dark blue, looking rather "jacked up" on a 4wd chassis... obviously testing the running gear. (we have (well, "had") the rover/pressed steel factory here in town who did lots of rover stuff. it's now BMW mini production)

Does anyone has a large size version of this picture. I just love this image, unfortunatey I lost it when my hard disk died. I hope someone could help me finding it back.

Well,

Chilean army acquires at least 150 90's last year. According to some sources also some 110's and 130's will come soon

Does not look so fancy like those ones but still is nice to see them.

Other pic (A TD5 for trials)

Cheers Eduardo

Anyone else think "Puma Wolf" sounds rather funny?

Like a cross between Gladiators and Thundercats?!

"Kitten puppy" doesn't quite have the same ring to it. Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion.

dgardel,

Thank you for helping me out, I really apreciate it. Unfortunately the photo I'm looking isn't on the site you mentionned. It is indeed of the same "family".
