We received an order from Lookers Land Rover at Park Royal yesterday and the chap there told me that they were in the process of building a multi million pound showroom

My initial response is "Well I wouldn't want to buy a £100k Range Rover out of a corrugated tin hut down by the canal basin where the druggies sniff solvents".

On the other hand "Do I really want to be subsiding those overheads for a flashy corporate palace where the minimum hourly charge rate is north of £100 per hour"?

What is appropriate for showcasing vehicles in affluent and cosmopolitan London may be less appropriate for economic disaster zones further North?

Whichever brand of car you buy, the dealership staff often appear to be rather primitive when it comes to evolution of the human species.

Product knowledge, technical expertise and problem solving usually take second place to teeth whitening, fake tans and parading about in an ill-fitting suit like an applicant for the BBC's Apprentice programme.

England 2013 Defender 130 Puma 2.2 HCPU Orkney Grey
i have always thought this. dealerships have to many overheads thus big mark ups and servicing bills....

i ordered my 130 new from a company call direct vehicle sales, Ripon, Yorkshire. im 5 hours from there! i never met him. He has a shop on the high street and orders the vehicle from factory and is delivered straight to me! it still is and will be the most expensive item i have had turn up in the "post".
he worked out 11% cheaper than harwoods were offering me and advised me on how to get a further 5% from NFU.
