i've just done mine. the ring that holds the sender unit into the tank had come loose.
easy to do. jack it up, rear wheels off. tow bar off , undo the fuel filler pipe, undo the front of the tank guard, drop the tank enough to get your hand in and un pop the flow and return lines and the sender wiring. then undo the guard rear nuts in the x member and drop the lot on the floor. clean everthing and then do the ring back up...hard going because the senders spring loaded. |

Breather pipes split on top of the tank
i think depending on year there are two , one small and a large one very common for them to split do a search on forum for tank breather |

You might want to consider making an inspection/access hatch - you don't need to remove the tank to create one. There are a few threads on here showing different ways to do it and cover it. http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/
