The grandstand right on the apex of Club corner (I think it's designated B) can give you a view down the pit straight, and some of the pits, but also allows you to watch the cars approaching from Stowe and through Vale.

Come to my house, you can sit in the garden, listen to the cars, watch it on TV and know who's in the lead. Then down to the fair in the evening!

I went to the 2013 Fi at Silverstone and caravanned there for the whole event, and loved it. I bought tickets for International Pit Straight (start/finish line) as I wanted to watch the build up to the race, and watch cars going into the pits.
One good thing about buying grandstand ticket is that on practice and qualifying days you are free to roam around the other grandstands which gives you the opportunity to see the circuit from many different places. Then, on race day you remain in your designated grandstand. Int National Pit Straight was perfect for me, I sat to the right end (when looking at the track) and got a great view of the cars approaching from a distance, turning into the straight and entering the pits. The build up to the race on the Sunday was brilliant, watching the cars and teams set everything up, glamorous models stood by the cars, Suzi Perry, Eddie Jordan and Coulthard doing the tv bit. And best of all was the sheer noise of the cars as they first set off. Beckets is a great stadium also, not only do you see the cars approach and negotiate the 'W' shape bend, but you watch them scream off towards Stowe, You can also see the other side of the circuit where the cars come very close to yo as well, so always something to watch. Binoculars or a camera with a zoom lens is extremely useful for seeing the stuff you'd otherwise miss. A few photos I took.. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Race day breakfast.. Great photos - and looked a good day out but I guess camping for the whole event meant you missed the traffic issues for visitors to race day only.
You mentioned the cheap seats - for F1 there really aren't any... |

True, there are no cheap seats. Caravanning from the Thursday through till Monday with grandstand seating cost me about £550. The after race party is worth staying for, when we were there we were treated to Billy Ocean performing live. Eddie Jordan appeared through the weekend playing with his band.
Id love to do it all again, but I dont think I could beat the experience of 2013 - scorching hot weather, great company and Hamilton starting on pole. I think the next time I go will be with my son when he's old enough to appreciate it all. |
