What a great thorough job you are doing Greeni.
I note your comments about the temporary nature of the air filter, so I ain't being no smartie, so I suppose it would be good if you could organize the engine to be sucking cold air from some sort of cold air intake, rather than hot air from under the bonnet. Can't wait, as others have said, to hear the rumble! Pickles. |

Well spotted pickles
It will eventually be isolated under there with either a cold air intake pipe taken from the unused wing top vent, or some 'speed holes' in the bonnet @tiger what did you get? I have a cap I've never worn also? You're welcome to that....if your wear caps! |

Greeni,..there is a "way" to take cold air from the rear of the engine bay, which was used by some GM U.S. Muscle cars, also used on some Aussie V8s, but you'd see it on late sixties Camaros etc, which had the cold air induction option.
At the bottom of the windscreen, a sort of vacuum forms, when the car is being driven, so the us muscle cars have a bonnet scoop, under which is a hole in the bonnet, but open at the REAR, which enables that air, comprising the vacuum, to be very easily & quickly sucked into the intake!! Pickles. |

Thanks Pickles, great bit of info. The plan was to reverse dimple-die it, so water can't run in and put a scoop over it, the trouble is, scoops look very 'rice' and can ruin the traditional look. A friend has a Subaru rally car and he has the scoop reversed.
There's a lot of ducts in the Demon Tweeks catalogue that I'll be looking at, for ideas. As long as it's done tastefully, they can look great. I've been saving this photo as inspiration for my next build (starting when Mrs Greeni thinks I'm ready!) check the bonnet. |
