I have fitted one of these http://www.dabonwheels.co.uk/SharkFin_DAB_FM_Car_Aerial.html
I fitted it towards the front of the roof in a similar place to this but a bit further back. The reason for fitting it towards the front of the roof is the fact that the vehicle has a roof rack fitted so this was the only place it would physically fit. Thanks for the pic Buccaneer I drilled through the roof and also drilled a hole in the bottom of the rib big enough to allow a socket to pass through the hole to tighten the aerial fixing nut. The sides of the rib are still in place so as far as I am concerned there is little impact on the strength of the rib. The reception is very good in fact I get better DAB reception in the 130 than my Disco 4 130's have feeling's as well you know |

Yes its under the rack and its got great signal, not been to Dorset in the 130 yet so cant comment on reception there. I live on the Welsh border and there are 'black' spots with reception, well there is in the Disco 4. So far I have not encountered any signal loss. 130's have feeling's as well you know

There are areas in Dorset where a wireless set with valves is still considered a bit too new-fangled, and where the latest 4WD tractor is an ox!

Love my DAB I have an adaptor that allows the original antenna to be used for dab and fm. But my head unit has stopped receiving dab ! Its definitely a software fault I've tried a spare antenna the window one and still no signal 😞

The really annoying thing with the Pioneer unit is that with this fault it still receives DAB fine but when set to DAB the display says something helpful like "ANTENNA FAULT" and the controls are locked, so you don't know what it's tuned to and you can't retune it anyway. But is still receives a signal so clearly there's actually no antenna fault. I think it is concerned with the circuitry used to power a powered antenna, but clearly it is moronic design. |

Mine is passive, not powered, which makes me even happier about the internal fuse that's blown!

Andrew S, really like the look of that. I have a wing mounted dab aerial from dab on wheels and the reception is rubbish. it isn't just the signal either because I have had courtesy cars with dab and they have been flawless.
how easy is this to fit? does the headlining come out easily and more importantly, doe it go back without it looking like it has been tampered with? I have a jvc single din head unit with a jvc dab box. I was originally put off the shark fin because it didn't get a good review. |

Yes lining out, its easy enough to remove the lining dependent on how 'stuck' the fasteners are.. A lot easier if you have a trim removal tool. Get a few spare lining fasteners before you start the job.
Even with a trim removal tool the fasteners are sometimes difficult to remove without damaging the head lining, I use a pair of these to get behind the head of the fastener to pull it out. Or just snip the head off the fasteners that want to stay put. Once the lining is out you can easily remove the remainder of the 'stuck' fasteners. 130's have feeling's as well you know |
