I’d start with new air and fuel filters. How old is the fuel filter?
Any odd fuel pump noise recently? When did it last have an injector loom? Have you checked red plug? |

o.k
Had an issue with bad starting a couple of months ago so changed fuel pressure regulator and checked pressure, 4 bar new glow plugs new fuel filter housing new fuel filter new injector harness (land rover) red plug clean no oil At mot, told local garage to change injector seals .. and all of the bolts holding what i'd call the rocker shaft sheared. Had a 10p TD5 in the garage so they took the head of that and put that on, with its injectors, dont know if they changed the injector harness at that point or used the one in that was in there. They were a bit timid about changing the seals on that head (understandably) Air filter was changed a month ago New fuel filter few 100 miles ago, fuel pump sounds good did change injector loom farily recently Santa - 1977 Series 3 - new chassis, tub, disc brakes,SU Carb Gertie - 1999 110 TD5 - like a Phoenix from the ashes back on road... almost Effie - 2004 110 TD5 County |

If they used the other set of injectors did they code them to your current ecu?

yes they did,
The missifre was a red herring. After running for a bit it went away. However, checked the oil level and was damn near empty. Since 2012 this engine has hardly used any oil and just had to put 5 ltrs in it to get it to the max level. Still loads of white smoke though and no erro codes. Thoinking thst the turbo might have gone south. revving ther engine and squeezing an intercooler hose produced hardly any push back from the squeeze Santa - 1977 Series 3 - new chassis, tub, disc brakes,SU Carb Gertie - 1999 110 TD5 - like a Phoenix from the ashes back on road... almost Effie - 2004 110 TD5 County |

Sounds like the turbo is burning oil. Take the pipes off it and take a look.
