not sure if reading well the lubrizol chart, but the Mobil 1 5-w30 you mention, which does not fall into the "fuel economy" field, meets the VW507 spec. If you display the latter then it falls into the FEc field.....no capice.

South Africa 2010 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 SW Fuji White
After doing plenty of reading and research into using another oil in the Puma TDCI, I took the plunge as I was not happy with the use of 5w-30 when our summer heat set in.When our temp went up to 42 celcius my motor was very rattey as the oil seemed to be like water. Also rattled on cold start up and I do not believe that the ford oil spec is the best for engine wear protection.

What about warrenty!!!!!I'm looking after my own vehicle on my ace.My closest dealer is 13 hours away with the ferry and over 500 euro's cost for return tickets excluding overnight stay if needed.

I have a (ROW) 7seater SW with 12000KM under the belt with no problems so far.

Anyway back to the point.I used a synthetic a3/b3/b4 5W-50 oil. What a difference!!!!No Diesel clatter when cold or very hot.Pur's like a kitten.I'm planning 5000km oil change intervals. If I can find a lab, will get the oil tested after the first change. One other thing,it feels like the engine has been chipped after the change.WEIRD Shocked

I do not know if this will be a permanent change yet,but the results are pleasing so far. Puma 110 SW

on the plot provided the A5B5 oil does not fall into the fuel economy field as the HTHS index is over 3.5. So the effect of Fuel Economy is lost?

Do you have any experience with MoS2 additives for engines (like Liqui Moly)?

Chck out Mobil 1 Fuel Economy SAE 0W-30, ist fulfills M2C913-A/B and has your desired economy-features.

QUICK UPDATE
We are having hot weather the last couple of days and the Puma is running better than ever.An engine rattle that I was getting with the ford oil has gone for good and the exhuast is not sooty as before.Fuel economy seems unaltered after two fills.

Cold strarts are smoother too in the morning.

I'm very happy with the results and will be sticking to my 5w-50. Puma 110 SW
