dipsh*t drivers at our place have been known to add it directly to the fuel tank (it goes in a separate tank) or radiator and screen wash at our place Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter ,as said, it's dripped into the exhaust helps clean up the emissions. And yes,it is animal pi55. Pov.spec,ftw. 2006, 110,TD5.

It's now part of the euro6 emissions for all diesel engine vehicles not just wagons. Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

From wikipedia...
Diesel exhaust fluid (DEF), commonly referred to as AdBlue in Europe and standardised as ISO 22241[1] is an aqueous urea solution made with 32.5% high-purity urea Shocked (AUS 32) and 67.5% deionized water.

So to say it politely, it is some kind of fertilizer. Laughing

Now, professionally I have visited multiple urea port based flat stores and the sharp smell not only makes you cry, but it is such an aggressive product that if you want to rededicate the store after a number of years to for instance grain products, you better drill away a 10 cm layer of concrete from floor and walls, and replace it by new special concrete. Urea is so aggressive that it penetrates deep into concrete and whatever high pressure cleaning/products you use, it is all in vain. Know this first hand.

Happy my Puma is Euro4 emission norm Whistle

Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

And if you do use it Don`t water it down or wee in the ad blue tank (the ecu will notice). dosing units and injectors are expensive, they crystalise on a regular basis. Some people also call it D.E.F. Diesel Exhaust Fluid.

The joys of emission laws Excuse the spelling I`am better with spanners and wires.

I came across Urea some years ago when working in agriculture. It became more cost effective to use 33% urea fertiliser as opposed to 34.5% Nitrogen fertilser. Fertil;iser like this is usually in a prill form, basically looks like plastic BB pellets, and as the farmers began to demand it more the quality of the prills lessened and all you ended up with was 1t bags of dust, try flicking that out 80' in an even pattern. The machines we used had to be washed out at the end of the day and the stink that you took home with you was unbelievable, you might as well have spent the day rolling on the floor in a kennels then spent the night in a cattery!
Don't go to the memories of having to repair broken machinery especially when welding was involved.

Land Rover introduces two new diesel SUVs with Selective Cat
www.discoverdef.com/news/2015/1/15/land-rover-introduces-two-new-diesel-suvs-with-selective-catalytic-reduction-(scr)-technology/

Are these the first of many?

"Land Rover introduced the diesel Range Rover HSE Td6 and Range Rover Sport HSE Td6 at the Detroit Motor Show this week. Both models will be equipped with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology and a Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) tank large enough for approximately 10,000 miles. The models' aftertreatment technology also includes a low pressure Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) and low pressure Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) systems.

The diesel Td6 turbocharged six-cylinder engine offers a 32% increase in fuel efficiency over the supercharged V6 gasoline engine, and 28 MPG in highway driving conditions. Combined highway and city drive testing by Land Rover achieved an average of 25 MPG, however official Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) test results are pending.

The new models will be available to customers in the U.S. later this year, ahead of the implementation of U.S EPA light-duty emissions standards in 2017."
