Originally it wasn't green leather - was grey green elephant skin so probably why they didn't want to repeat that one again. Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

Adding bits to a heritage....why the hell not. We add stuff to every other defender. Lets face it JLR have never finished any defender to ever come out of the factory, Which donkey makes the best 4x4xfar and then doesnt even fit it with anything decent to tow with Rolling Eyes not to mention fitting decent engine, lights, tyres etc etc ......remind me why do we love them so much.....oh thats right.....because we can add stuff to make them better/how we want Thumbs Up 2003 Td5 90

If LR really had wanted to make it "heritage " then it would have had the spare wheel on the bonnet and a sun visor along the top of the windscreen, reduced the engine to 2.0litre low powered petrol or NA diesel and removed the heater system.......they weren't really trying very hard at doing "heritage" we're they? IMHO, the Heritage is a "special" model, and will always be seen so.
Consequently I believe it should be kept fairly original, and only be fitted with any "O.E." accessories that the owner may wish to fit. That way, it would still be "Factory".

OK to fit an Exmoor Williams Leather Rim steering wheel, very series 1 looking, and maybe a centre seat for the dog, in of course Almond Cloth trim if available? He (the dog) makes a great warm armrest in the series 1, nose gets in the way of 2nd gear sometimes?

Cheers Nigel

Totally agree with that Martin and would really love to have the opportunity to include factory, or even dealer add-ons to provide a bit more flexibility on the personalisation aspects... Thumbs Up

Although I would definitely replace the standard steering wheel, for what though I am undecided, yet...

If you pay your money, it’s yours so then it is up to you what you do with it! Personally I think the new Heritage edition is a gimmick and for me because it’s gimmicky I would not bother, that’s just my personal choice; I prefer originality not a modern day copy. The number plate graphic paying homage to the first is also in my opinion gimmicky and certainly not an attention grabber, the general public would not have a clue as to its meaning. So if anyone buys the model and mods its then why not and if it gets up the noses of purists then so be it.

I will certainly be adding accessories to my heritage when it arrives, in fact I have already bought some side steps, rear step, load liner and audio system for it. All these I will find useful but can easily be removed to bring back to standard spec.
I'm not sure I would want to make changes that couldn't be reversed but if anybody wanted to do that to their car then fair enough.
Has anybody any recommendations for soundproofing and protecting the internal rear side panels of the hardtop as that is something else I would like to do to the car as well?

I think I'll get the rear nas step with tow ball.
Side steps are a must I think.
And a spare wheel cover with locking wheel nuts.
