110 exhaust middle box
A little advice chaps please.
My 110 flew through the MOT yesterday no problems, however got an advisory on the middle box, very slight blow on the seam.
so I will be replacing it shortly, my question is, has anyone done away with the middle box.
I see you can buy a pipe with out a silencer, but does this make it much more noisy or am I best sticking with a middle box.
has anyone done this already,
if yes, does it drone on the motorways
your thoughts and advice please.

Plenty of people have done it. I did it on my 90 but it was very droney on the motorway, so I made my straight pipe into a straight through silencer, removed the drone but kept the bark when you give it some. Td5 is a lovely sounding diesel with a straight pipe Thumbs Up 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

Thanks guys, from the answers I have decided to go with the silencer,
we travel backwards and forwards to Bulgaria,1800 mile each way and the last thing I want is a Drone.
thanks
Barry

LRI Solutions (form sponsor) nearly always has new/take off's for tdci/td5 for sale .Better than new aftermarket, imo.FWIW,when I replaced mine I couldn't resist firing it up with no middle/back box, to hear how load it was Twisted Evil,It was nothing to shout about Neutral. Pov.spec,ftw. 2006, 110,TD5.

I replaced mine with a straight through pipe and still have the silencer on top of my beer fridge, its yours if you decide to stay standard there's nothing wrong with it. However I will say that the cruise speed engine note I quieter and the exhaust note sounds alot less rattley. I prefer it without. Anyway let me know if you want the the box as I have only kept hold of it for such an opportunity to give it away
