Heated windscreens
i was wondering if someone could tell me where in the south one could get a heated front screen fitted. The seal in mine is leaking and I think it would be wise to change the screen at the same time for a fully heated one. I got a quote from two suppliers and the prices varied from £375 - £535 inc vat.

Can I get some advice please.

Many thanks

I'm not near you but I did get a brand new heated screen & it fitted all for £140 including new rubber seal.
I got it from a guy in Selby.
He also has the rear heated screens for around £85 I think.
Bargain if ever I saw one.
He sells on ebay,.

If you go for the military (RRC7310) version, this is the temperature you will be able to get. It's brilliant!

This version has 3 connections at the bottom instead of 2 connections.

89F (approx. 31C), but this figure does not mean much unless we know wat the ambient temperature was? Cheers, Vincent

If you go on to eBay & type in Defender heated screen & then look for a seller in Selby, that's the guy you want.
Bought it from him & his friend fitted at his unit.
The guy who fitted is a local Landrover Independant specialist.
I think I paid £105 for the front screen. I'm debating on changing the rear screen as my top half of the screen does not demist. Think the elements are no longer joined up.
Mine was a replacement for my original non heated screen. I just need to get round to wiring it up along with the heated seats I have bought. Just need some time now.

Thanks for the info on this one, sadly he only allows collection. I have seen that Audiofile do the whole lot fitted for 449 inc vat, however not sure if that's with the wiring harness!

I have just ordered a new heated screen plus the wiring kit from VGS (formerly LandyGlass) for £206 +VAT
Contact ClaireWright on this forum for any info

http://www.vehicleglazingspecialists.com

I will wire it myself but probably get a profesional to pop the screen in - read several posts of screens cracking if you get it wrong.

VGS also have their own regional recommended fitters. I used their recommended fitter in my area to do all my Landyglass (probably get hit with a lawsuit for mentioning that name! Shocked )

It was about 15°C in the shop. Here's the Celsius reading we took.

The timer is a PRC6796 which is the standard timer used on the 1994 NAS 110's. They all had heated windscreens (2 connector model though) I believe it's a 10 minute timer, but I have never had it on for more than about 4 minutes other than when we installed and tested it. It reaches it's max temperature after about 2 minutes or so and melts the frost and ice easily. I'm looking forward to a good rainy day so I can see how well it de-mists the inside. With those temps, I don't think it will take long.

Thumbs Up

As I have posted before you cannot claim ownership of a word, ‘Landy’ that is not a dictionary word and you have no intellectual rights to. JLR's lawyers know this and any good corporate lawyer would have the case thrown out.

JLR's ambiguously worded letter to traders using the word is open to interpretation and their bullying tactics on trying to enforce their ownership on the matter is disgraceful. They have even tried to enforce their ownership of the word historically when they have no evidence that the company have ever used the word, certainly not in their company records, minutes or literature.

I repeat again you cannot take ownership of a word that you have never used in promoting your business and have no intellectual rights for. If that was so we could all register words and take ownership of and forbid their usage if that were the case we would all be struck dumb with no words to utter. Book authors would be left with very few words to tell a story.

It would be very interesting for a test case to come to court and what defence JLR would use, certainly they could not use a defence that the use of the word would have a detrimental effect on their business as to do so they would have to prove in the past that it has and would need to show evidence of which they do not have.

Perhaps it isn't actually a heated one they fitted? (Hope that joke fairs better.). Laughing

89 degrees fahrenheit is 31.6 degrees celsius so at least both pictures are constant. Puma timer is 8 minutes I believe? Thumbs Up If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!
