1999 Defender 110 Td5 SW Caledonian Blue

Parked up TD5 90

Went to see a 2002 Td5 90 that was used a beach patrol / saltwater wading / warden duties for a local park.
The 90 has been SORN'd and sat for around 12months in the workshop yard.

No miles showing on the odometer and the main battery was dead, showing no sign of life.
So hooked up a battery to the existing battery and got miles showing on the clock.(around 79k)

Turned the ignition key and fuel gauge moved, temp gauge move to around half way (mine moves all the way and stops until I disarm), Glow plug light came on and went off, so tried to start it and got the sound of a sticking starter motor.
Accidentally turned the indicators on and then fuel gauge moved.

Initial thoughts, probably a collection of bad earth connections (starter, main earth for a starter, maybe ECU)

Brakes seized on, chassis flaking (but appears solid), 5 good tyres, 6 seats. passenger door needs attention, rear door OK, looked liked some corrosion around drivers door and plenty of sand/mud inside.

Pondering making an offer for the 90. 1999 Defender TD5 110

That's my thought. I was at the £400 max mark 1999 Defender TD5 110

In this month's mag is a 2002 TD5 90, 143k miles, 'good general condition' asking a tad shy of 7 grand.

So, do you have the time, effort and contacts to buy it for less than 1, spend 1 on the engine, 1 stripping it down, 1 fixing the chassis and 1 on the rebuild, and make 2 grand profit? Somebody will make a tidy profit if it goes for a song .. somebody will. Sold the much modified 110 2.8, in Oz
Brought the 90 home from Switzerland ...

7k! Not bad.

Someone will make a nice profit along the lines somewhere. A running TD5 engine I guess is worth around £800-£900 alone.

Need to have a ponder over the weekend before deciding on my next move and how much I want to offer in a sealed bid. 1999 Defender TD5 110

I did a sealed bid on 8 defenders not too long ago and some were in a right state having worked on a power station and they ended up going for silly amounts and at retail at 56,000! I only offered 32k! Most were tdci defenders but knackered.

Mind you they were advertised in the papers. 2011 Santorini Black USW XS.

These as far as I know have not had much in the way of advertising - just words of mouth/people walking into the yard. 1999 Defender TD5 110

Depends on the bulkhead - Cheaper than a Puma one, way cheaper than a new TD5 one and cheaper than a 2nd hand TD5 one from a breaker.

I am keeping my ear to the ground as there is a 110 as well - but not been used as a beach hack. 1999 Defender TD5 110
