I like the Oz RV4, we use it without side and front if we only camp for a few day days, if longer than full set up with side and front walls, and front and side awnings.

@Mac22, I always use the flysheet, and by using to poles to create an airgap between flysheet and main tent, it is a great help to reduce condensation.

Am glad that at least some people are aware of condensation control Thumbs Up

Have seen people get into tents and zip up every windo, door, ventilation panel and then wonder why they get condensation Banging Head Banging Head

^^^
The first time we camped with the Oz tent we didn't have a flysheet and in the morning the condensation dripped from the ceiling, really wet inside. Now we always use the flysheet and I always leave the vents above the front door open, as well as a little flaps from the vents at the sides. If it is warm weather then also the big vent flap at the rear. The combination of good ventilation at night and the flysheet means almost no condensation even in cold weather. Thumbs Up Cheers, Vincent

I've had a couple of Oztents now and they are amazing bits of kit, really well built, but (for me) had the following downsides:

They are nearly 2m in length when packed and heavy. If you have a 90 and also a 110 (if you use the 2nd row seats) then it'll have to go on the roofrack, it's a two man job to get it up there and then you worry about a £1000 worth being stolen.

Although incredibly quick and easy to erect, it is then no quicker to peg out the guys than any other tent.

The additional awnings are great for cooking under or storage but again require two to put up and if you have the extra sides and front are time consuming.

They are 'OK' in the wind but not amazing and you'll not feel confident that something isn't going to get torn off.

They were designed to be Australian Outback base camps transported by trailer and in that guise I'm sure they'd excell, but for single night use in the UK, I personally thought they were hardwork.

For camping now we use the 'throw up' Decathlon tents, as quick to erect, a fraction of the price, easier to transport and store, light and stable

How do you pretend your on an epic overland expedition then?

I have to admit I just don't get Oz tents or Roof tents for UK / European camping especially if you have a family with you. I can see the value if your driving with overnighters through Africa and need quick pitch collapse but otherwise they just seem heavy and small.?

Much better more suitable tents available from Outwell / Vango / Decathlon at a fraction of the cost that are well designed for a weeks camping with a family.
