Springs

Hi,
Happy new year.

I have done some internet searches and found some info in relation to fitting standard 90 rear springs on the front of my 90, they appear to have the same part number as H/D front springs. I intend to fit a winch and steering guard but don't want the Landy to look nose down as result. Will fitting rear springs on the front negate the extra weight of the winch and bumper and keep the landy looking level?? Or will it still sit higher as a result? Does anyone have any experience of this?

id fit your winch and guard and then see what its like. The fronts are 175lbs/in and the rears are 225lb/in as standard. So yeah putting rear springs onto the front will increase the ride height for a given vehicle weight. Its not something id do myself. Id buy a spring set. EDIT: Just saw that you have a 110 in which case those spring rates are incorreect as they are for a 90.

unless someone has exactly the same setup as you, in terms of vehicle (spring) age, engine, tyres and accessories its hard to be sure exactly what you will end up with.

My vehicle has winch bumper, winch, guard, tree sliders and sits slightly lower than id like at the front but not by much. the suspension is 175lbin front and 225lbin rear at standard height spring lengths.

I have currently 225 lbs in the front and 285 in the rear. I might change the rear ones back to 225.
I found the 175 lbs/inch to weak when charging up a hill.

Thanks for your replies, it is for a 90, 300tdi truck cab. I might do some experimenting. Just don't really want to end up with the front of the Landy looking like I've got a 2 inch lift

2005 Defender 90 Td5 XS CSW Zambezi Silver

On my 300 Tdi I fitted standard rear springs to the front after I fitted a winch and steering guard etc as the front dropped by about and inch and a half. Sat nice and level afterwards
