Sadly the majority doesn't seem to understand the legal standing between byways, footpaths, bridleways etc.
To some a lane is a lane even if it's private land. |

That was a bit of a rant.
I don't think anyone here would be guilty of such stupidity. I would of toned it down a little as it reads as if either someone on here did it or knows who did. I wish you a happy new year and hope there wasn't too much damage done. |

Steve
Im not pointing the finger at anyone on here, or having a go at anyone on here! As i mentioned you all seem a responsible bunch! I just makes me angry, when i go out in my Land Rovers sticking to byways and the law, And a small minority go out and drive where they want ignoring signs and seem to think its fine. 80" 80" 86" 88" 90" Wanted, Forward Control Anything considered. |

Rant justified.
My local byway has been ripped up along its entire length by off piste driving. It has cost the council a small fortune trying to prevent it by strategically placing very large boulders, and repairing the damage caused. (They also do a fantastic job of keeping it open by occasionally carrying out surface work when it gets too washed out.) The same scrotes that go off piste have also taken a liking to churning up the moorland next to a public car park at the top of Holme moss, dragging the peat into the car park itself as they go. This behaviour is far more frequent than we care to admit and it is my guess that within the near future out greenlanes could well be closed to vehicular access. I am so conscious of people's opinion that I feel guilty, even though I am driving legally. 2002 110 td5 |

So many lanes have been lost due to this, either shut all together or have limited periods of use,
I know its been well documented in various LR mags, and on many forums. But sadly people are still ignoring it, and its people like us who will end up having no where to go except the pay and plays!.....dont know about you but i would rather be on a greenlane? 80" 80" 86" 88" 90" Wanted, Forward Control Anything considered. |

I agree as well
The group I go off road with is limited to three vehicles and the rule is that if in doubt as to if it is legal to drive we don't drive it. Perhaps us that do know how to drive legally should start to report them, surely it doesn't have to involve the council as they will treat us all the same?
It's more bikers down here that cause issues off piste or speed. |

I've reported people before. I've also helped organise parties to fix the damage.
I find youtube frustrating - people post up videos of themselves driving illegal lanes and either don't care or just say 'I didn't plan the route'. Very frustrating ! |

I would not go so far as to say thet all the forum members are a responsible bunch as in all walks of life folk can say one thing and do something completely different if they think they can get away with it ..However i do believe as a group landy owners compare well in the responsiblity stakes! This is a large forum and i would guess that someone may know or have an idea who was driving in that area...............perhaps they did not know the damage they were causing! |

Agree with you there, as im sure people dip in and out of other forums every now and then.
So someone may just spot it and see the error of their ways I do however find this forum to be of the more shall we say "gentlemen like" ones! which is why i like it. Landy Zone seems a bit.........well lets say "alright gezza c u ltr mate! omg" Im sure there are some nutters out there, but not found one on here yet!
