Given that this update was released for iOS 6 (late 2012) then I can't see a Defender-specific update coming 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Hi all.
I am in Australia and have a 2013 defender with the 133bt installed. The Bluetooth reception is so poor that it was unusable with my iPhone 6 so returned it for head unit replacement under warranty to no avail. New head unit = same issue. After looking for a update, I found that there are a number of firmware updates around the world for 133bt units and they are most certainly different and relate somewhat to the installed firmware your unit has, for example the US version has a factory 01.01.00 version with an update taking it to 01.27.00. Aussie firmware updates require a 2 step process and I was unable to ascertain what version it was updating from or to. The UK Alpine cde-133bt Is updated lie to 01.62.3 though "If you have BT version 01.62.00 on your device it is not necessary to update to version 01.63.30". The Defender comes with a 'Land rover only' 133bt head unit with a factory firmware version or 0.14.00. It is NOT update-able! I have tried everything and it simply will not update. All I get is the message on screen saying "update in progress do not touch any button" or some such rubbish. It never gets past that point and probably just as well as by the sound of it, it would destroy it anyway. In short, it seems if you want to use your iPhone 6 with your Land rover fitted 133bt and you want proper performance and clarity at both ends while talking then don't bother. I have now decided to throw the alpine unit in the bin and have it replaced with a different brand such as clarion that works with modern blue tooth phones and does not use some garbage firmware update arrangement. All things said and done though, Land rover should not be supplying out of date and non update-able stereo systems. I'm pretty annoyed about it actually. |

My wife's double cab has the factory fit 133-bt and my iPhone 6 works fine using bt and when wired both on phone calls and for music. Ray

It's the lack of Bluetooth AVRCP profile on the factory fitted CDE-133BT's firmware which annoyed me.
This means that the music playback can't be controlled (Prev/Next) over Bluetooth I have replaced my CDE-133BT with a CDE-173BT which Halfords were selling off cheaply last year. 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |

Have to agree that not being able to to move music on is a little annoying so for my csw I put a 178-bt in which has a lot more features. Ray
