I don't know . I rang Sureterm, got transferred to Lancaster and was then told I would have to wait a week for my renewal quote . My policy expires in 21 days so it is well within the standard 30 for quoting. I found Lancaster hard work last year, and I am thinking if they are hard work when you are buying the policy them it will be a nightmare if you are claiming.
Have a quote from NFU which I think I can get into the ballpark if I increase my voluntary excess. Have only heard good about NFU but they aren't the cheapest! They have an office a mile away tho' which is reassuring!! |

I've just had a quote from NFU Mutual for mine that I'm picking up on Saturday.
3900. Gulp. Waiting to hear back from A-Plan but Adrian Flux were 695 which is a bit more palatable! |

Word of caution.....Whoever you go with steer well clear of any favourable quotes underwritten by a company called Markerstudy. I used them once and as long as I still have a hole in my bottom....NEVER AGAIN!
A-Plan, Adrian Flux and several other reputable providers use them despite having awful reviews. Here's why: http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews123837.html If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

Thanks
I had read your comments in the past. A-Plan (and the very friendly Katy) have come up with a reasonable price, just waiting for them to send the email through with the details. For some reason Adrian Flux said that adding business use on made no difference to the premium but A-Plan said it put it through the roof. Given that any business use will be minimal and I have my other car insured for that anyway (it was cheaper than not having it) I think I can give it a miss. |

Insurance. The mere mention of the word is enough to boil my blood so I'll try and stop myself from ranting...
It just so happens that last week I had a bit of time to try and obtain some comparative quotes for various insurances (it's scary when I look at how many different policies we have as a family and business to cover various risks) house, contents, commercial vehicle, car, goods-in-transit, boat, professional indemnity, public liability, employer's liability, etc, etc and as far as I'm concerned the whole industry's I even gave one of our forum sponsors an opportunity to quote for my Defender insurance, sent them an email confirming all the mods made and received a call from a young lady who proceeded to get all the other info required for a quote. She came back a couple of hours later with a figure that was sufficiently below what I pay now to make it worthwhile changing, so I asked her to confirm the quote and send me an outline of the policy via email, just so I could compare in detail precisely what was being offered. Nothing arrived so, after four days, I chased the company and was told by a very apologetic guy that I'd have the documents within 30 minutes..... Guess what? It's now nearly four days later and zilch has arrived in my inbox; nada, nowt, f3ck all and that's from a company who purport to be interested enough in Defenders and their owners to sponsor this forum. If I drove my car with all the due care and attention insurers give their customers, or potential customers, I'd be attracting the attention of every traffic cop in the country! Insurers? Don't make me larf! |

I called the number listed in the A-Plan forum (01635 874646), told them what I was looking for, told her that I was a member of Defender2.net and she said "ah yes, you get a discount then".
I must admit I haven't checked any more than that, just assumed that it was all being taken in to account. She was definitely called Katy (or Katie or something), I wrote it down and everything |

Spoke to A-Plan on Tuesday, they said they'd send me details over. Spoke to them yesterday and gave them another email address just in case they had problems with the first one, still nothing.
Now spoken to the very friendly Richard and had a good chat, fingers crossed I might now get something through in writing... I just don't like paying for something that I haven't been able to have a look at with my own eyes. Sorry for the thread hijack, it wasn't what I intended Edit: oh, and there's a special place in Hell for Adrian Flux, they've managed to send me a customer satisfaction survey (grrrrr) without sending me any of the quote details I asked for. How hard can it be?! |

Odd that you seem to be having problems. I took out insurance a few months back and got quotes from both Adrian Flux and A-Plan. Both were really helpful and we're prompt on call backs, document emailing etc. I ended up going with Adrian Flux as the policy they offered (NOT markerstudy, I made sure of that!) included third-party insurance for any other vehicle, something a lot of policies don't include any more.
