Quite common yes. Could be the spring that sits just above the pedal pad so try lubricating that first especially where it works on the pedal shaft, to lubricate the pedal pivot properly means removing the pedal box cover under the bonnet - ok you can do it from below [inside the vehicle] but it's a bit hit and miss. Call me odd or superstitious, but every land rover I have ever had with a squeaky clutch pedal has been a cracker so I'm very reluctant to do anything to rectify it
No doubt a squirt of maintenance spray on the pedal pivot would sort it out if you wanted to |

Haha, funnily enough I've got the feeling that this is going to be a very good vehicle.

WD 40 might be a bit light and dissapear fairly quickly, any problem with using a small amount of grease instead such as lithium or moly?

I think I would use ACF50 in such cases, with the added benefit of a fine tube for precise location... Rog... The GREEN One... MY2016 Urban Truck Build Thread - http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic40548....al[/color] |

If you open the bonnet and look at the side of the pedal box where the pin where the clutch pedal pivots, there's a 6mm or 1/4'' thread (I can't remember) I put a grease nipple in there and it solved my squeaky pedal.

Any decent lubricating oil or light grease will do. Steve. Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW. Are you sure a mouse hasn't moved in?
WD40 is a pretty pants lubricant and can make things worse by washing the actual lubricant off. 3-in-1 would be better but there are loads of products out there. We use quite a lot of this stuff for a general squirty oily stuff in a can that doesn't cost too much: http://beal.org.uk/lubrication-cleaning/ae..._3093.html It's called "chain and cable lube" but it penetrates well and is pretty sticky so good for a lot of things. |

Well a part success today. We put a little bit of 3 in 1 oil on the spring at the top of the pedal arm and it's definitely improved it. So tomorrow we will give it a proper lube and hopefully that will sort it.
