can be spliced in to other socket (depending on load , best use one at a time ) BUT is std socket live all the time as really you want usb socket on ign live as they use small amount of power even if your not using them

Hi,
Thanks for that. I don't think the standard socket is live all the time no, just comes on when I turn the ignition on. Thanks for the advice. |

Thanks Andy! I like the look of that. How did you wire it in to the under dash, just splice it in? or id there a spare 12V wire knocking around?

Mine is too. The fag lighter terminals are arranged in a T, there is a 2 way connector that connects it. I took the lighter socket out and replaced it with a Marinco socket to match the second one I was fitting so I cut the 2 way thing off and replaced it with separate 6.3mm terminals. I then made up a pair of cables long enough to go from the first to the second with normal terminals at one end and these on the other......
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/20092728899...p;ff14=108 Then wired the second to the first and popped one of these into one of them... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Griffin-Twin-Dua...462c5a24fc ,,,,they fit nice and flush and are removable too. Simples. Have e-mailed you the 2002my on wiring diagrams. |

I nearly put DO NOT USE SCOTCHBLOCKS/LOCKS in the last post. As MKI says. Probably the easiest way is as I posted, though the are other ways of splicing a cable using butt connectors or soldering. If you are going to do ANY electrical work do it properly, Haynes do an auto electrics manual which might be a good read for you. I would also reccommend buying a multimeter (£10-£20) these are useful for checking polarity and continuity if nothing else, they all come with instructions.
If in doubt get some who knows their way around to do it. I would gladly give you a hand if you were a bit nearer obviously. Oh....and did you see the dinosaur yet? |

I will look in my bits box later and see if I have the bits to make up what you need and stick it in the post if you like. This might not be as useful as learning stuff yorself.....but happy to help.
